According to this link http://www.buiha.org.uk/history/, it would imply Any person attending university anywhere in the world whom is a UK & Northern Ireland citizen between 17 and 28, no matter to what level they have played our great sport.

Which is strange because some aren't old enough to attend university.

Amanda is at Thames Valley University although you're correct, not old enough to be studying for a degree but then it doesn't state what you must be studying just the institution you are at. I guess that is how several of them qualify as Ganney is only just 17 too.

I thought Leanne and Mickey were at a college, not a university though, regardless of age.

I know the University tag put some others off as they are at college

I'm not sure, but my guess would be that you just need to be in further education. Also, I think that you can play one year after you've graduated.

Yeah, there are some too young to attend uni (me, ganney, george) and we all double checked that we were eligble to do this. According to the paperwork we had to fill out this is what it stated -

Only the following may participate as competitors in a FISU Sporting Event:

i) Students who are currently officially registered as proceeding towards a degree or diploma at the university or similar institute whose status is recognised by the appropriate national academic authority of their country (e.g. the Department of Education in the UK).

ii) Former students of the institutions mentioned in (i) who have obtained their academic degree/diploma in the year preceding the event.

All competitors must satisfy the following conditions.

i) be a national of the country they represent (therefore hold a full 10 year UK passport)
ii) be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age on January 1st in the year of the event (born between 1 January 1981 and 31 December 1991)

Thanks for the replies - there are a couple of players I would have expected to see in that team, but I understand they weren't informed about the trials, or thought they weren't eligible . . . it's not a dig at anyone, just an observation!

Maybe they were doing A Levels as opposed to a vocational course at college?

Dude, I know they're not doing A Levels, but I'll not name names - it's not fair on either them, or the people who have managed to secure their positions on the team already :D

I'd just like to wish the team all the best for their campaign & hope they enjoy every minute of it!

It's the World University Games in 2 weeks time in China, for 11 days I think. First game is against Canada. It's the first time womens hockey has been included iirc.

The actual website is a bit pish.

The canadian one seems a bit more user friendly with the schedule down the left hand side.
